Alvaro Souto
Operational Superintendent
Alvaro began his working life as a mechanic for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles. His passion for the sea stems from his grandfather, who was a Bosun on the historic Spanish training ship Galatea.
At 20, he completed his automotive mechanics degree and went on to study Marine Engineering for two years in Mallorca. After graduating, he worked as a deckhand-engineer on fishing boats, tugboats, and ferries — and at 24, he joined his first private yacht.
Eager to continue growing his yachting career, Alvaro spent five years with a nautical services company, overhauling yacht engines and generators and refitting yachts as an official service provider for Northern Lights. During this time, he also earned his Captain’s Licence in Spain and with the RYA.
With 16 years of experience in the yachting industry, Alvaro has worked as a deckhand, engineer, and captain on both private and charter vessels. His varied background gives him a broad perspective across both the commercial and recreational maritime sectors.
He is deeply committed to his work, driven by a passion for achieving objectives to the highest standard. His top priority is always the successful and precise completion of any task.
