“Where mountain meets sea. A yacht charter in Montenegro offers splendour, and soulful cruising through living history”

Montenegro offers a different kind of Mediterranean — quieter, deeper, and framed by dramatic natural beauty. Begin your Montenegro superyacht charter in the fjord-like Bay of Kotor, where timeworn bell towers rise above mirror-still waters and steep cliffs guard medieval towns. Cruise past Perast’s baroque facades, visit the island chapel of Our Lady of the Rocks, and let the stillness of the bay set the tone for days of refined serenity.

Continue your journey south to Budva’s golden beaches, where sun-drenched promenades and Venetian walls welcome you ashore. Nearby, the iconic silhouette of Sveti Stefan — a rose-stone islet glowing in the afternoon sun — offers one of the Adriatic’s most photographed views. Swim in the mesmerising Blue Cave near the Luštica Peninsula, where shifting light dances on turquoise water, or explore hidden coves known only to locals. Lounge beneath pine-covered hills, and enjoy the rare luxury of having nature all to yourself.

Savour seafood caught fresh each morning in family-run tavernas, where hospitality is heartfelt and flavours are shaped by centuries of tradition. Or experience fine-dining restaurants perched high above the sea, with sweeping views. Montenegro is a place to reconnect — with nature, with beauty, and with a sense of freedom only a yacht charter can offer.

Top Tips For Your Montenegro Yacht Charter

Frequently Asked Questions

PLANNING YOUR MONTENEGRO YACHT CHARTER

What is the best time of year for a luxury yacht charter in Montenegro?

The ideal period for a luxury yacht charter in Montenegro runs from late May to early October. July and August are considered the high season, marked by increased activity and higher prices for boat rentals. During these months, the Adriatic coast enjoys long days of sunshine, calm seas, and warm temperatures, creating perfect cruising conditions. July and August are the most vibrant months, while June and September are considered off season, offering lower prices and fewer crowds.

What is the weather like in Montenegro during the prime charter season?

Montenegro enjoys a Mediterranean climate along its coastline. This Mediterranean climate provides excellent sailing conditions during the charter season. From June to September, daytime temperatures range between 26°C and 32°C, with sea temperatures around 24°C. Gentle breezes keep conditions pleasant for sailing, while the evenings remain comfortably warm for al fresco dining on deck or along the coast.

Which airports provide the most convenient access to Montenegro?

Montenegro is served by two international airports: Tivat Airport and Podgorica Airport. Tivat Airport is the main gateway for yacht charters, located just minutes from Porto Montenegro marina. Podgorica Airport, the country’s international hub, is approximately 90 minutes by car from the coast. These international airports offer connections to many European countries, making Montenegro easily accessible for travellers from across the continent.

Guests arriving from European countries may also choose Dubrovnik Airport in Croatia as a convenient gateway, with a scenic transfer along the Adriatic coastline and a border crossing near Herceg Novi.

VAT & Charter Costs

What is the applicable VAT or tax rate for a luxury yacht charter in Montenegro?

Montenegro offers one of the most favourable tax environments in the Mediterranean for yacht charters. The VAT rate on yacht charters is 0%, provided that the charter begins and ends within Montenegrin waters. This makes it an attractive base for yacht charters.

What is the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) and what does it cover?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is a sum paid in advance to cover charter expenses that are not included in the charter fee. These may include fuel for the yacht, tenders and water sports equipment, food and beverages, berthing dues and harbour charges, local taxes, divers’ fees, customs formalities, waste disposal, water and electricity taken from shore, ships’ agents’ fees (where applicable), personal laundry, communications and internet use, and any special equipment requested by the Charterer. The Captain will provide detailed accounts of expenditure, and any balance will be settled at the end of your Montenegro yacht charter.

What is the standard percentage for gratuities in yachting?

Gratuities are not included in the charter fee. It is customary, though always at the Charterer’s discretion, to leave a gratuity in recognition of excellent service. As a guideline, a gratuity in the region of 10 to 15 per cent of the contracted gross Charter Fee is considered appropriate.

Destinations & Experiences in Montenegro

What are the most exclusive yacht charter destinations around Montenegro?

The Bay of Kotor stands as the country’s crown jewel — a fjord-like landscape of deep blue waters framed by mountains and Venetian towns. Kotor itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated for its historic old city and rich cultural heritage. Other exclusive stops include Porto Montenegro, a world-class superyacht marina; Perast, a charming city known for its baroque architecture. Perast is a hidden gem along the coast, offering unique cultural experiences and stunning views. Sveti Stefan, a private island resort renowned for its timeless elegance, is surrounded by beautiful beaches and golden sands that make the coastline especially inviting. The Blue Grotto is another must-see destination, famous for its azure waters and breathtaking landscapes, perfect for those seeking natural wonders along the Montenegrin coast.

Which iconic attractions should I explore during my Montenegro yacht charter?

A Montenegro yacht charter gives you a flexible base for days that feel entirely personal, whether you cruise the sheltered reaches of Kotor Bay or hop between coves on the Luštica Peninsula. Build your Montenegro yacht charter around private wine tastings, a chef-led market visit in Kotor, and a seafood lunch sourced from local oyster farms near Perast.

For a more cinematic arrival, arrange helicopter transfers to mountain viewpoints and restaurants, then return to your yacht for charter in Montenegro for sunset at anchor. Add guided cultural tours of the old towns, early-morning access to quiet swim spots, and tailored beach club reservations. The calm water suits paddleboarding, diving, and tender explorations of sea caves, while inland trips to Lovćen, Skadar Lake, or Durmitor reveal a wilder side. A yacht for charter in Montenegro keeps every element smooth, from berthing to bespoke experiences.

Where are the best restaurants and culinary experiences in Montenegro?

If you are planning to charter a yacht in Montenegro, top dining addresses include Nobu Montenegro in Sveti Stefan, Matsuri and Murano at Regent Porto Montenegro, and Forza Mare in Dobrota for fine dining with views across Kotor Bay. For something more authentic, Ćatovića Mlini in Morinj offers refined local cuisine in a restored mill, blending history, flavour, and understated elegance. In high season, tables can fill quickly, so it is worth securing reservations alongside your berthing plan, particularly around Porto Montenegro. A balanced itinerary might pair a marina evening in Tivat with a slower dinner in the bay, letting you enjoy the scenery en route and arrive unhurried, with time for an aperitif before the kitchen begins service.
