South America Yacht Charter
A source of inspiration for Darwin’s theory of evolution, Ecuador’s Galápagos archipelago is a beacon for conservation in action. Santa Cruz and Santa Fe islands champion various programmes and are home to giant tortoise hatchlings, the world’s only swimming iguanas and some of the most dazzling night skies on the planet. The most photographed island in the archipelago, Isla Bartolomé is the perfect place to drop anchor and enjoy white sands, lush green mangroves and a swim with a local penguin.
A never-ending ocean playground, hammerhead sharks can be spotted during Punta Carrion dive trips off Santa Cruz island, but water also plays a starring role in Argentina where Iguazú Falls’ 275 individual cascading waterfalls release a roaring torrent of 1,500 cubic metres of water per second as one of the seven recognised natural wonders of the world.
Argentina is also home to the world’s most iconic glacier, Perito Moreno. At over 250 square metres, this colossal phenomenon is one of the few glaciers in the world that is still growing, advancing at an average of six feet per day. Boardwalks and viewing platforms hang above the baby blue ice with chunks breaking away with deafening regularity.
No trip to the Southern Hemisphere is complete without paying homage to Macchu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. An architectural miracle built over almost a century, explore its preserved ruins to admire the sheer Incan ingenuity.

A word from an expert
“A cradle of civilization in the New World, South America enchants, amazes and excites in equal measure as a magical place where giant tortoises roam, lost cities are found and rare glaciers are growing, not melting.”
