Numarine, the renowned builder of luxury long range explorer yachts, has launched the first 40MXP superyacht, a groundbreaking new flagship in the shipyard’s acclaimed XP Series. Building upon the success of the 37XP, this 40-metre explorer superyacht expands the boundaries of both range and lifestyle, combining true transoceanic autonomy with generous, Mediterranean-inspired outdoor living.
Already in high demand, the shipyard has two further 40MXPs under construction, with deliveries scheduled for 2025.
A MEDITERRANEAN EXPLORER WITH GLOBAL REACH
The ‘MXP’ designation stands for Mediterranean Explorer, and with good reason. This new model captures the essence of relaxed, open-air living that defines the region—offering an expansive aft deck with a large alfresco dining area, a bar, and a lounge surrounding an elegant aft pool with a glass transom.
This entire social hub flows seamlessly into a hydraulic full-beam swim platform, creating a flexible waterside retreat. The area can be shaded with an awning, making it perfectly suited for warm climates such as the Mediterranean, the USA, Australia—or indeed the Middle East.
But while the design evokes the Mediterranean lifestyle, the 40MXP is far more than a coastal cruiser. With an impressive 6,000-nautical-mile range, she is a true global explorer, capable of crossing oceans with ease. Ömer Malaz, Chairman of Numarine, explains: “Preserving the same stylistic cues and DNA of all our models, the 40MXP retains our high-volume, low-maintenance, long-range ethos while offering a number of new design features that enhance the intimate connection with the sea that a yacht provides.”
RETAINING THE CORE XP ETHOS
The 40MXP may be a step forward in style and social spaces, but it stays true to the proven DNA of the XP Series. Naval architecture by Umberto Tagliavini optimises efficiency and long-range capability. The yacht remains under 500GT, an important operational consideration for owners who want volume without the increased crew requirements and regulatory complexity of larger vessels. Standard propulsion comes from twin MAN 800hp engines, while an optional upgrade to Tier III-compliant twin MAN 900hp engines makes the yacht future-proof for stricter emission standards in sensitive cruising regions.
Inside, the yacht reflects Numarine’s signature high-volume interiors, offering accommodation for up to 12 guests in six suites, including a full-beam master on the main deck. Exterior and interior styling is by Can Yalman, creating a seamless design language throughout.
Yousuf Al Hashimi, Managing Director at Phoenix Yacht Management, Numarine Official Dealer in the GCC comments: “In the Middle East, Owners value both generous social spaces for family gatherings and the performance needed for effortless cruising across longer distances. The 40MXP delivers exactly that—expansive outdoor areas usually seen on much larger yachts, combined with the proven efficiency and reliability of the XP Series. It is perfectly suited to the lifestyle of regional owners who expect both comfort and capability.”
As a true explorer yacht, the 40MXP also retains the practicalities that made the 37XP a commercial success: a substantial tender deck capable of carrying a 9-metre tender, three full-size jet skis, and a selection of water toys, along with generous storage for extended journeys.
BLENDING LUXURY, VERSATILITY, AND DEMAND
The introduction of the 40MXP marks another milestone for Numarine’s XP Series. With its blend of explorer capability and refined outdoor living, the model is already proving a commercial success.
Chris Gore, Sales & Marketing Director at Numarine, summarises: “We are extremely excited to have delivered the first of the all new 40MXP. Our new flagship offers true luxury blended with versatility be that for family or charter use, whilst maintaining our core Numarine DNA”
